It’s the final matchday of Superligaen’s regular season and there are still 5 teams left battling for the last 2 spot in the Championship Group.
After matchday 26 the league will be splitted into 2 groups. The best 6 teams will be playing for the crown of danish football while the other 8 teams are fighting against relegation and for european hopes in two seperated groups of 4 teams each.
Best chances for the fifth spot have SonderjyskE who are three points ahead. They may meet 6th placed Randers FC, but the visitors haven’t won a league match since November.
Which could be the big chance for Aalborg BK. They are 7th and currently just 4 goals behind Randers. And circumstances get even better since they face bottom of the league Viborg FF. If Aalborg win their match, chances are high that they will become the 6th team of the Champions Group.
Meanwhile FC Nordsjaelland are only 1 point behind as well and had a decent form in the last couple of matches, but obviously need a bit of luck to let two teams behind. On top of that their away match against 4th placed FC Midtjylland isn’t easy going anyway.
Do we really have to mention Silkeborg IF here? They still have a tiny bit of hope to make it, but that would be rather mathematically. Silkeborg host no other than contenders and leaders FC Kopenhagen. So realistically they have to plan for the Relegation Group, about which we will talk later.
