HJK Helsinki win the finnish double

matchday

HJK Helsinki – IFK Mariehamn 1:0

After winning the Suomen Cup last saturday HJK Helsinki have also crowned themselves as finnish champions by beating holders IFK Mariehamn.

The hosts claimed the victory through a beautiful Anthony Annan goal which made them uncatchable at the top of the table with five games left to play. It is their 27th Veikkausliiga title after a year without any major trophy last season. They have now won 7 of the last 9 league titles.

Dethroned champions Mariehamn stay at the 6th place and will face SJK Seinäjoki next.

SJK Seinäjoki – Ilves Tampere 0:0

Seinäjoki, who lost the cup final to HJK on saturday, played the second game of the night against one-point-and-one-place ahead Ilves from Tampere. Both teams failed to tap in a goal so they keep sitting close in the table.
