After losing the first Superligaen match of 2018, FC Nordsjaelland cruised to a deserved 2:1 win over Odense BK on friday night.
1.930 visitors in Right to Dream Park saw an early goal for the hosts, after Odense’s Casper Nielsen lost possession in a dangerous area and FCN captain Mathias Jensen reacted quickly, sending a left footed shot into the right bottom corner. It was the sixth of the season for the danish U21-international and his first since October.
Before the home side doubled their lead inside the half-hour, both teams wasted a couple of good chances. Striker Mikkel Rygaard Jensen then finished a quick counter attack, assisted by Ernest Asante.
Rasmus Festersen brought new hope to the visitors from Funen when he picked up a cross from the left wing and converted beautifully with his right foot.
In the end though, Kasper Hjulmand’s men kept the three points like a true top team, they just failed to finish the game off earlier.
Third-placed Nordsjaelland keep track of Midtjylland and Bröndby on the top, while Odense have to look over their shoulder since three teams are lining up to take over their fifth place.
